Everyone can donate a chemical probe. Probe candidates are subjected to a strict review process and must fulfil the following criteria:
In order to guarantee the quality of the compounds all donated probe candidates and control compounds are subjected to a two-tier scientific review process: the first review takes place internally within the SGC Joint Management Committee, including partners who have not been involved in the probe project. The second review is performed by a panel of renowned scientists, the Donated Chemical Probe Scientific Committee, who act as independent reviewers. After approval DCPs are subjected to the PDSP screen and all data are added to the DCP database. Synthetic routes for probe and control compounds are shared with the chemical vendors Sigma, Tocris and Cayman, which make the compounds commercially available in order to maintain the resupply and sustainability of the chemical probes. Probes are also made openly available through the SGC (see the "How to order" section of the "FAQs").
If you would like to join the project and donate a probe, please contact the SGC Frankfurt.
